MEETING GECAM – ALGERIA EMBASSY IN CAMEROON
A GECAM delegation led by Madame Aline Valérie Mbono, Executive Director, accompanied by Mr. Nacisse Chassem, Deputy Executive Director N°1 and Mr. Espoir Mbungu, Research Officer, held a working session on July 09, 2024, with Mr. Abdallah Boukemmache, Ambassador of the Republic of Algeria to Cameroon at the Embassy in Yaoundé.
The meeting enabled the two institutions to explore the range of actions they could carry out jointly. Discussions between the two partners highlighted a number of priority areas for action, including :
– the identification of a GECAM focal point within the Algerian embassy in YaoundĂ©, for closer proximity and more effective management of the relationship between the two institutions;
– A review of all partnership agreements signed between Cameroon and Algeria;
– Facilitating cooperation between GECAM and the Algerian Patronat;
– The identification of value-added services for GECAM members, in particular the facilitation of obtaining business visas, the signature of an agreement with Air AlgĂ©rie, which offers preferential travel costs on the market;
– A reflection on the need for Algerian entrepreneurs to invest in Cameroon in various fields.
GECAM and the Algerian Embassy also discussed the preparation of an economic mission of Cameroonian entrepreneurs to Algeria in the near future.
This meeting between GECAM and the Algerian Embassy testifies to the Patronat’s openness to the realization of intra-African economic cooperation.
